Between the Wars. Austrian Artists 1918 to 1938

“Between the Wars. Austrian Artists 1918 to 1938” is an exhibition at Vienna’s Leopold Museum, opened till 28th January, 2008. This is an overview of Austrian artistic works, created during the period between the First and the Second World Wars. During this time the country was searching for its national identity, which shaped into traditionalism and skeptical attitude to modernism. Great amount of neo-romantic and patriotic works were created during the period. Artists of the time were inspired by the Old Masters. As for expressionist works, in many ways they were influenced by Cubo-Futurist developments. The Leopold museum presents many high-rate works which will help you explore the country’s social, political and artistic past.
